Hooray! Birchbox and Ipsy arrived yesterday and I tried pretty much everything…. here’s the run down. (click on the pictures to make them larger!)
Birchbox handy dandy card reads 5 items in this month’s box, with the theme of “sharing passions”. So we have, Dr. Brandt – pores no more vacuum cleaner, Ellovi – vanilla butter lotion (body/face/hair), Lord & Berry – Paillettes Glitter Eye Pencil in Black (which I was allowed to pick via e-mail), and Toni & Guy Shampoo & Conditioner.
Ipsy‘s little bag them is “Beauty Candy”. It includes; Ayres – Patagonioa Body Butter, Indie Lee – Brightening Cleanser, Nicole by OPI Nail Laquer in Gold, Noyah lipstick – Deeply in Mauve, and Skone Cosmetics – Tattooed waterproof eyeliner.
So lets get started! I tried the Deeply in Mauve lipstic first… it looks really dark, but what the heck right? Don’t knock it till you try it!
I applied it with a lip brush (something a Mary Kay consultant told me to do) instead of just smearing it on. It’s a little darker in real life than the picture below shows, but I actually WILL wear it on weekends or nights out! Its a fabulous fall berry color on me. Its super creamy and luscious.
Next up, EYELINERRRRR. I have a ton of eyeliner’s packed into my disaster of a ThirtyOne make up bag, every color, every style. I tried one eye with the tattooed product and the other with the glitter eye pencil:
The Tattooed product goes on super smooth, but you have to put on a second coat to really get it to stand out. I like the fact that you don’t have to sharpen it, but wonder how many uses I can get out of it until it dries out/runs out.
The Glitter Eye Pencil looks like it has a lot more glitter on the tip than actually makes it to your lash line. It’s a little rough to put on, so those with sensitive eyes/contacts it may be too harsh for you. I do have contacts, but I was able to get it on ok.
After that, it was time to take it all off! (I actually used the brightening cleanser again this morning too!) Indie Lee is clear out of the bottle and lathers up on your face. Just like a normal face wash.
Now, Dr. Brandt Pores no More VACCUUM cleaner sounds a little intense… And I didn’t have any blackheads that were super noticible but it says it turns BLUE and gives a cooling sensation after 5-10 minutes.
And yes… there was a cooling sensation.
I also tried the Nicole by O.P.I – On a Gulit Trip polish. I am a hoarder of polish colors… I’m pretty sure I still have the green we used when I was in 8th grade playing the Wicked Witch of the West…. This one looks like gold glitter in the bottle, but dries to a matte finish.
And last but not least, the Tony & Guy shampoo/conditioner. I will tell you, after just ONE use, I’m a fan! My hair is sooooooooooooooooo smooth and shiny today!!!
Pay not mind to those bags under my eyes…. if anyone has any alternate products besides the Garnier Under Eye Roller, I’m open to suggestions!
Get out there and experiment with your make up products! It’s supposed to be FUN!
